How to use the Practice Books

The children loved the books. They are colourful and targeted, and the children really liked the fact they could read a book by themselves.

In the classroom

Use six of the same book and children practise and apply their Synthetic Phonics skills, in real books.

As a home reader

Ensure parents give them same consistent message at home, that you are giving at school; “decode to read and segment to spell”. Parents love to be able to hear their child experience such success and they soon grasp the intuitive techniques that are explained on the inside cover of every book.

For use in learning support; one-on-one work

Use a one-to-one set and give children success with reading a real book. Many children who are experiencing difficulties will find levelled books too challenging. The Practice Books, with their simplicity, will give children that wonderful feeling of reading a whole book!
