Decodable Texts — What to Use When (PDF)
A simple reference showing when you can introduce texts from other publishers alongside the Get Reading Right sequence.
The Key Rule
We’ve always encouraged the use of decodable texts from many publishers. But there’s one critical rule: only give students books that contain grapheme-phoneme correspondences they have already been taught.
The most important thing is to have a scope and sequence and stick to it. Once you’ve decided on your sequence, you can supplement your resources with books from other publishers — but you must map them to your sequence first.
